Ingredients

For the Sweet Potatoes:

  • 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes (peeled and cubed)
  • 2 tbsp oil (for roasting or frying))
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

For the Chaat Toppings:

  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 small tomato (finely chopped)
  • 1 green chili (finely chopped, optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds (optional, for sweetness)
  • 2 tbsp sprouted moong
  • 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
  • 2 tbsp green chutney
  • 3-4 tbsp yogurt (whisked with a pinch of salt and sugar, optional)
  • 2 tbsp sev or bhujiya (for crunch)

Method

  • Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the cubes until golden brown. Drain excess oil on a paper towel.
  • Toss sweet potato cubes with a little oil, salt, red chili powder, chaat masala, and ground cumin.
  • Add fried sweet potato cubes in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the chopped onion, tomato, green chili, and fresh coriander leaves to the bowl.
  • Drizzle tamarind chutney, green chutney, and yogurt (if using) over the sweet potatoes.
  • Sprinkle sprouted moong, pomegranate seeds, sev, and a pinch of extra chaat masala on top for added texture and flavor.
  • Serve immediately while the sweet potatoes are warm, and the toppings are fresh and vibrant.
